Jaguar XJ Made In India To Cost INR 90,00,000
Tata Motors, owners of the Jaguar Land Rover group, began assembling their entry level sedan, the XF sedan in India in 2013. The British iconic manufacturer had also prompted that they could begin assembling their flagship model XJ in India too.
The Jaguar XJ will compete against the likes of the S-Class by Mercedes, A8 by Audi and the 7-series by BMW. The XJ luxury sedan will be offered in both petrol as well as diesel and will be assembled in India. Jaguar will however, offer their XJ Supersport as a Completely Built Unit.
The XJ that will be assembled in India will sport a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol, 4-cylinder mill that will produce 340 Nm of peak torque along with 240 PS. The diesel engine will be a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine. It will generate 600 Nm of peak torque along with 275 PS.
Jaguar's XJ petrol and diesel engine will be coupled to an 8-speed ZF gearbox, and power will be sent to the rear wheels of the XJ. It will have independent suspension along with an air ride system for smoother ride quality.
The Indian-made Jaguar XJ will receive a host of updates within the cabin. They will offer either a bench or individuals seats for the rear occupants. The popular large sunroof will be retained even in the Indian assembled vehicles. Surprisingly there will be no changes made to the exterior of the XJ.
The XJ by Jaguar that will be assembled in India will cost roughly INR 90,00,000. The price will be ex-showroom prices and will be the cost of the most affordable trim option. It will still be more reasonable than its competitors the A8, 7-series and the S-class.
This is the second model of Jaguar that will be assembled in India. The Jaguar XJ will be available in showrooms by June, 2014. However, it will be available only in the XJL option, which is their long wheelbase model.
