Jaguar XJ Made In India Launched At INR 92.1 Lakh
British icon, Jaguar, had showcased its XJ at the 2014 Auto Expo which was held in New Delhi. They had then showed intent to assemble their XJ premium luxury sedan locally in India. This meant the the vehicle would be sold as a Completely Knocked Down unit(CKD), making it a tad more affordable.
Jaguar has now launched their XJ sedan which is assembled in India. Tata Motors will provide a part of the plant to Jaguar to assemble the flagship XJ at their Pune facility. The most affordable model is the diesel which will cost INR 92,10,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The super luxury sedan segment has been booming in India and Jaguar has already been locally assembling their XF model. The British marque earlier sold the XJ model in India through the Completely Built-up Unit(CBU) route. They sold their luxury sedan then for a price of INR 1,16,00,000.
Jaguar will be locally assembling the popular diesel variant of the XJ. The car will sport a 2993cc, 6-cylinder diesel engine - it will churn out 600 Nm of peak torque along with 275 PS. The luxury sedan is not sluggish and can do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in a quick 6.4 seconds. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The car will be loaded with goodies and will ooze premium products inside the cabin. It will feature soft grain leather, Meridian audio system, navigation system along with a LCD display. The driver will be assisted while parking the car thanks to the front and rear parking cameras. The XJ by Jaguar is the longest in its segment and offers premium luxury at a lower price now.
Jaguar's XJ will compete in India against the likes of the German duo of Mercedes and BMW. Their cars have already been selling in India as CKD models. The S-Class and 7-Series have shown great demand among the Indian luxury car buyers and we believe the Jaguar fits perfectly with the competition. Out of the trio, the Mercedes S-Class is the most expensive, while the Jaguar XJ is the most affordable. BMW's 7-Series sits between the two and is a great buy too.
