Hyundai Motor India Limited has officially launched the 1.0-litre Kappa engine for the Eon. The earlier 0.8-litre engine will continue to be available as an option.
The South Korean manufacturer has introduced the new 1.0-litre Kappa engine in the Eon to compete against Rival Datsun GO. The new Kappa engine will be priced at INR 3,83,130 (ex-showroom Delhi). It will be only available in their Magna+ trim Eon.
On the introduction of Hyundai's new 1.0-litre Kappa engine for the Eon, B.S. Seo, Managing Director and CEO, HMIL commented,"Hyundai Eon has been a trendsetter of style, performance, design and finesse in its segment and has received good acceptability and appreciation from its customers."

He also said,"Hyundai consistently innovates to meet and exceed the demands of the customer and the 1.0 Litre Kappa engine now offered in Eon is an extension of our modern-premium brand philosophy and will delight our customers with unparalleled driving experience and further consolidate Hyundai's position in the domestic market."
The 1.0-litre Kappa engine sports aluminium construction, which helps keep the engine weight to a minimum. Hyundai have used an aluminium head and block, that help in achieving better fuel efficiency. It will also reduce vibration and noise from the engine owing to the low friction timing chain.

Hyundai have complied to the standards of Euro 5 with their 1.0-litre Kappa engine, and it will sport a Dual VTVT system. It will help the Eon perform better, while still providing superior fuel efficiency along with low carbon emissions.
The Eon's 1.0-litre Kappa engine will be a 3-cylinder petrol engine which will produce 69 Nm of torque. The Kappa engine will be coupled with 5-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai claims their Euro 5-passed 1.0-litre Kappa engine will provide a fuel efficiency of 20.3 kpl as certified by ARAI.
