Honda Mean Mower: The Fastest Lawn Mower
The UK division of Honda has prepared a lawn mower to claim the title of 'Fastest Lawnmower'. The lawnmower was ridden by Piers Ward of BBC TopGear magazine. The record was set at ISIADA Proving Ground in Spain, on the 8th of March, 2014.
The record was set in presence of Guinness World Record officials. The Mean Mower had a 100 metre distance speed trap to set its best time. It also had to go both ways on The Tarragona strip in an hour. The officials took an average of two runs to set an official speed record.
The Honda Mean Mower broke the previous record of 87.83 mph, which was set in 2010. The new Guinness World Record stands at an astonishing 116.57 mph.
The Mean Mower from Honda sported a 1000cc bike engine, it has been engineered to achieve a 130 mph top speed. The lawnmower can achieve 62mph in as less as four seconds. The machine ways a little over 300 pounds.
Honda's Mean Mower can also mow the lawn at a speed of 15mph, which is approximately double the speed of a regular lawn mower.
It was important for the Mean Mower to be a functional grass cutter. If it couldn't cut grass then it would not be able to compete in the Guinness book of records.
Sorry to disappoint as Honda will not be mass producing this Mean Mower, it was a one-off to create the record. It would be great to see someone break this record now, with their own contraption.
