Honda i-DTEC Engine Powers 1 Lakh Indian Cars
Japanese automobile giant Honda is among the leading premium car manufacturers in India. They were known for their refined petrol engines, however, due to increasing demand of diesel powered vehicles, they launched their very first diesel mill for a few models.
Honda Cars India Ltd. provides its 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine for its Amaze, City and Mobilio. They are proud to announce that their diesel engine powers 1 lakh vehicles in India. According to their service data till date their diesel engine has achieved 90 crore kilometers cumulatively.
Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd expressed, "The 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine was Honda's first step into the diesel market and we have come out with exceptional results."

He further added, "The i-DTEC diesel engine revolutionized the diesel engine technology by offering outstanding fuel efficiency & amazing power delivery. It has been well accepted in the country and is attracting new customers to the Honda brand everyday. The 100,000 sales of i-DTEC powered cars is a major milestone for us and we are really proud of this achievement."
Honda calls their diesel mill 'Earth Dream Technology'. The Japanese manufacturer has used aluminum for its engine head. It is one of the lightest engines in its segment. They have also used several friction reducing technologies and has made it as smooth as a petrol powered engine.
The i-DTEC mill from Honda returns a healthy fuel efficiency of 26 kpl in its City sedan. The diesel engine has been built specifically for the growing Indian market. The Japanese manufacturer will going forward provide the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine in as many of their offerings as possible.
