Honda City Brings Record Monthly Sales In Jan 2014
Despite what the overall state of the automobile industry in India is, which is said to be in a low according to analysts, Honda cars India has continued to fly above the clouds.
The Amaze compact sedan was its star car last year, selling in great numbers and helping the automaker grow. Now, the company has not one but two star cars.
Honda City was launched on January 7th and in the short period of time the sedan has shown why it was once the first ‘large car' for many Indian families.
Honda has sold 7184 units of the City in less than a month of its launch and this resulted in the automaker registering the highest ever monthly sales of 15714 units.
That's a record 188 percent growth. In contrast, during the same month last year Honda had only managed to sell 5451 units.
The company achieved another milestone this month. That of crossing 1 lakh units sales for the first time during the current financial year.
The company has now sold 101370 units between Apr 2013 & Jan 2014, registering a growth of 78 percent .The company's sales for the corresponding period last year was at about half the current number at 56929 units.
Expressing delight on the company's performance Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President - Marketing &Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, "We have started the year on a positive note. We have received an overwhelming response to all new Honda City and the Honda Amaze continues to do strong sales. We would like to thank our customers for their constant support in achieving our highest ever monthly sales.
