Honda Cars India Sales Report - May 2014: Registers 18% Sales Growth
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has reported a growth in its monthly domestic sales of 18 percent during the month of May 2014. The company sold 13,362 units during the month, most of which were City and Amaze models. The two cars that have managed to sustain the manufacturer for the past year.
The company had sold 11,342 units in the corresponding month last year, which translates to an 18 percent sales growth.
Overall, Honda Cars India registered a growth of 23 percent growth during the April to May 2014 period, with 24,402 unit sales as against 19,830 units during the corresponding period last year.

Expressing delight on the company's performance Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President - Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, "We are thankful to our customers for the continued support we have been receiving for the Amaze and All new City and are confident that we will continue to do well in respective segments. Currently, we are excited about entering into the MPV segment with the upcoming launch of our mid-size stylish 7 seater - the Honda Mobilio. We are hopeful that the Indian consumers will welcome our new offering with open arms."
In other Honda Cars India news, the company has decided to increase production at its Tapukara manufacturing facility. The plant has a capacity of 123,000 units/annum, but outputs only 60,000 Honda Amaze units.
Production would be ramped up in the next 6-7 months and it could also add a second shift to keep up with demand.
