Honda Brio And Amaze Recall For Faulty Brake Component
Honda Cars India Limited today announced a recall of certain variants of the Amaze sedan and Brio hatchback for a possible defect in the brake system.
The company wants to undertake inspection of the proportioning valve of non-ABS variants of the Amaze and Brio manufactured between February 28 and January 16, 2014.
The recall will affect 15,623 Brios and 15,603 Amaze sedans.
The proportioning valve, a key component in the braking system, adjusts braking distribution to the wheels. The proportioning valve is not a part of braking system for ABS variants and therefore the ABS variants of Brio and Petrol Amaze and all variants of Diesel Amaze do not require any inspection. Honda will inspect and replace the valve, if necessary, free of charge. Brio and Amaze owners will be contacted by HCIL.

"There is a possibility that in some of these cars there is mis-assembly of the proportioning valve. However, no complaint related to this part has been reported. HCIL will voluntarily replace the proportioning valve after inspection, if required," the company added.
If you are a Brio or Amaze owner in India, note down your chassis number (you can find it in your RC / Registration book). Visit this dedicated page on Honda website and enter the chassis number to find out if your car needs attention.
HCIL's recall follows many other automakers in India in the recent past, including Maruti Suzki, Toyota, and GM.
