Hindustan Motors Fires 240 Managerial Staff
It must be an unsettling time for Hindustan Motors employees at the Uttarpara plant in West Bengal. The carmaker famous for its iconic Ambassador which was recently discontinued, has ended the services of around 240 managerial staff. This was inevitable, however.
While the company is more or less non-functional after the demise of the Ambassador, it will still retain some staff in departments like finance and human resources.
A company spokesperson said, "Managerial restructuring has been an on-going process over the last 2-3 years and continues in an effort to optimise work flow while retaining staff that remains critical to the continuity of operations."
While die-hard fans of the Ambassador would have hoped an investor would save the company, it seems all but unlikely now. Hindustan Motors seems to be going through the paces of shutting down shop steadily.
