Google Cars Gets Ex-Ford CEO Alan Mulally On Board

Ex-President and CEO of Ford, Alan Mulally has served for the American automobile manufacturer for a long time. Google now confirms that Alan Mulally will join their board of Directors. He will be working with the Audit Committee and has begun work on 8th of July, 2014.

Google had recently showcased its self-driving prototype vehicle. The famous and most popular search engine is entering the four wheeler market and is serious about its products. Getting Alan Mulally could be a strategic move forward.

Alan Mulally has worked with Ford as the CEO for over eight years. Prior to that he has also worked with Boeing, NASA and Washington Council. He was the frontrunner for the post of Microsoft CEO in 2013. However, he is known for turning the fortune wheel around for Ford, during the economic slowdown.

Google will have to pay Alan Mulally an initial grant of USD1 million in Google stocks. He will also get annual equity of USD 350,000 along with cash retainer and reimbursements worth USD 75,000. The developer of self-driving vehicles will pay all this for his expertise in the automobile sector.

Alan Mulally made way for Mark Fields as the new CEO of Ford. He gave his post up on 1st of July, 2014. The CEO post of Microsoft, which he wasn't too keen to take up, is now held by Satya Nadella. The former CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer admitted Alan Mulally was their first choice.
