Formula One 2014 Malaysia Preview & Qualifying
The first race of Formula One is done and the entire team cars and drivers now move to Malaysia for the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix. The Asian race creates a lot of difficulties for drivers as there is always uncertainty over the weather.
Malaysian GP also is one of the hottest as well as humid races on the Formula One calendar. The race weekend begins on Friday 28th March to Sunday 30th March, which is Raceday. The Practice sessions are done and it was no surprise who was on top of the charts.
Practice one was dominated by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who was followed by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso. It was a good day for Mercedes as they finished first and third on day one. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing-Renault managed 7th fastest time with Fernando Alonso able to go just 11th fastest.
Practice two was led by Nico Rosberg and his Mercedes following closely was Kimi Raikkonen again in second. Reigning World champion bettered his performance to third place. Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton achieved 5th and 4th places respectively.
The third and final practice was dominated by Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton. Improving his race pace was Kimi Raikkonen, who was followed by Sebastian Vettel. While Fernando Alonso struggled and could manage seventh fastest time.
The Qualifying was under heavy rains and there were a few mishaps. The British driver Lewis Hamilton secured pole position for the race, while his Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg secured third and between them in second is Sebastian Vettel. The best among Ferrari was Fernando Alonso, while his team mate Kimi Raikkonen qualified sixth fastest on the grid.
The race will begin at 13:30 in the afternoon and it will be a great race. Lets just hope it doesn't rain and it is a nice and dry race.
