Formula One 2014 Singapore GP Race Review
This Sunday the Formula One paddock was set to compete at Singapore at Marina Bay Street circuit. Qualifying was no surprise as the session was once again dominated by the two Petronas AMG Mercedes drivers. It was Lewis Hamilton on pole with teammate Rosberg in second.
Scuderia Ferrari looked threatening in the opening session, however, in the final rounds of qualifying Fernando Alonso could only manage fifth fastest. Red Bull Racing's best driver was Daniel Ricciardo was third fastest, while his teammate and multiple championship winner Sebastian Vettel was fourth fastest.
The race began with a surprise as Nico Rosberg did not began from the starting grid. This surely must have put a smirk on Hamilton's face. As soon as the red lights went off and the race began all drivers got through the first corner without any hassles.
Fernando Alonso made an excellent start, however, he could not stop in time and ran across the turn. The Spaniard had to return spots that he advantaged from and fell back to third spot. Sebastian Vettel took second place and sat there behind Hamilton.
Nico Rosberg was eventually capable of starting from the pit lane and was behind the pack. The problem arised during pit stops as Rosberg did not have any clutch and it would be difficult to stop. Once he was in the pit lane Mercedes opted to change steering wheels, however, that did not work and forced Rosberg into retirement.
The Singapore GP concluded with Hamilton in first, followed by Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo. Fernando Alonso finished in fourth, while teammate Raikkonen managed eight position. Both Sahara Force India drivers finished with points Perez was seventh, while Hulkenberg finished ninth. The next race is scheduled on 5th October in Suzuka, Japan, stay tuned for the action.
