Formula One 2014 Monaco Qualifying Results
The Formula One paddock has arrived at Monaco with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg on top of their game in the Petronas AMG Mercedes. All the practice sessions were led by the British driver however, the second practice was hit by rains and Scuderia Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was on top of the time sheets.
The Red Bull Racing-Renault has also been improving and have been in the top 6 in all practice sessions. The top runners for this race are Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. However, the Petronas Mercedes Duo are way ahead of the pack.
The Monaco GP is one of the few surviving street race in the current calendar and is the oldest race track used. The track is narrow and there is no room for error, there are hardly any overtaking opportunities. Most drivers will be keen on tyre preservation and overtaking other drivers during the pit stop routine.
The Monaco Qualifying has concluded and it is no surprise who dominated the round. The session was won by Petronas AMG Mercedes however, it was Lewis Hamilton's car. There were a few mishaps and many drivers were annoyed with the fact that they were being held up behind a slower car.
Nico Rosberg is on pole position due to a mistake in the final leg of qualifying which, ruined everyone's fastest time. His team mate Hamilton is second and will be ready to race tomorrow. The Red Bull duo secured third and fourth position with Daniel Ricciardo outpacing Vettel once again. In the Ferrari outfit Fernando Alonso drove the wheels off his car to secure fifth position, while Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen was behind him in sixth position.
