Formula One 2014 Australian GP Result
The new era of Formula One has begun and there was loads of drama and action at Sundays race in Australia. The Championship will see new faces and contenders for this year.
This Sunday marked the beginning of the smaller, powerful and efficient turbo engines. It also was a beginning of new rules and regulations to increase safety standards on track.
Race Day witnessed a new system where, if there are any drivers who can't start or stall at the start, remaining drivers have to go for another outing lap. During the Australian GP the drivers had to go out twice for an outing lap before the race could begin.

There was overtaking and wheel banging in the first corner itself. McLaren rookie Kevin Magnussen almost collected Fernando Alonso of Scuderia Ferrari of the racing line. Williams Martini driver Felipe Massa wasn't so lucky and was taken out of the race, due to a mistake by Kamui Kobayashi.
The day didn't end well for Pole starter Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes AMG Petronas as he suffered electric failure and was asked to retire and save his engine for another day. Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel too suffered problems and had to retire in the opening few laps.
Sebastian Vettel's teammate Daniel Ricciardo finished the race in second position. Unfortunately the stewards have disqualified him due to a failure in fuel sensor that resulted in the Red Bull car exceeding the 100 kg fuel limit per race. It was Ricciardo first podium finish and it seems a bit harsh to take his first podium finish away from him. Red Bull have announced that they will appeal against the ruling.

Fernando Alonso did well to start from 5th and finish in the same position. He along with every one behind Ricciardo have since moved up a place thanks to stewards' decision to disqualify to the Red Bull racer.
Most cars suffered from reliability issues and out of the 22 cars that started the race only 14 finished, however, after the Red Bull driver was disqualified that makes it only 13 cars.
The Winner of the race Nico Rosberg showed great pace and was almost about to overtake the entire pack of drivers. The Mercedes achieved this feat being within the stipulated fuel quota, which was impressive.
The next race scheduled is at Malaysia's Sepang circuit and practice begins on 28th March and Race Day commences on 30th March.
