Ford To Launch New Figo Late 2014
Ford got their first Figo hatchback to India in 2010. The car has been manufactured at their Chennai plant and has been the best seller for the American brand. At the 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi, Ford revealed their new Figo concept to all and stunned everyone.
The new vehicle displayed was not a hatchback anymore, it was a sedan. Now we have confirmation that there will be two new vehicles sharing the Figo name. The first will be the new 2014 Figo hatchback, while a compact sedan of the Figo will also be available.
It is expected that the American company will launch their hatchback version of the Figo in India first. They will later follow it with the launch of their production version compact sedan which, they showcased at the Auto Expo in New Delhi.
The new version of the Figo will be powered by a 1.0-litre ECOnetic mill. It will feature Ford's Ti VCT(Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing) system that uses a Dual-command. The engine is expected to generate 85 horsepower, a diesel option will also be available in the form of a 1.5-litre mill.
The new Figo from forward will be a totally new car right from the exterior design as well as interiors. Based on that we presume the 2014 vehicle to cost higher than the current gen Figo. The hatchback will look premium and modern than the Figo they currently sell in India. It is expected to be launched in late 2014.
Currently Ford is tied up with the huge demand for their Urban SUV the EcoSport that is their popular seller. They also export the vehicle to international markets and had stopped domestic bookings. Due to a long waiting period, they are now back on track and have presumed booking of their popular vehicle.
