Ford India Domestic & Export Sales Down In October 2014

American four wheeler manufacturer Ford has a wide range of products on offer in India. They had recently given its Figo hatchback a refresh prior to the festive season. Ford will be updating its Figo in India by 2015 and this update was to create interest in it once again.

They have provided their sales results for October, 2014. Ford had managed to sell 5,772 units during October, 2013, however, they witnessed a drop in sales by 15 percent. The manufacturer recorded exports of 4,907 units in October, 2014.

Ford India also witnessed a drop in sales of roughly 26 percent. Their domestic sales for October, 2014 were 6,723 units, while in October, 2013 the manufacturer had reported sales of 9,163 units.

Anurag Mehrotra, Ford India Marketing, Sales and Service Executive Director, commented, "Macro-economic indicators suggest a gradual recovery in the economy. But the positive customer sentiment is yet to translate into vehicle sales, potentially due to high interest rates and inflation."

Ford India has announced that it has commenced production via a third shift at its Chennai facility. This is ensure the supply of their vehicles and components. They assemble both engines and their vehicles at this facility.

The American manufacturer will be launching next-gen Endeavour, Figo hatchback and compact sedan next year. It is most likely that these products will come to India by mid-2015. Ford India had showcased its concept Figo at 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi.

Ford's most strongest product is their EcoSport compact SUV. It garnered most sales so far for the manufacturer in India. They had also recently commenced their competition to develop new apps for their vehicles, which will be developed by normal people.
