Ford Fiesta Facelift: Safety Prioritised; Diesel Engine Only
Ford Fiesta will be returning back to India in a few weeks time (expected to be mid-June). The 2014 facelifted Ford Fiesta sedan was first showcased in India at the Auto Expo in February and has since been up on its website for everyone to see.
As seen on its website, the new Ford Fiesta is only likely to be launched with a single engine option - the 91 bhp, 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine from the previous model, though it is likely to be more refined and efficient.

The diesel engine will be mated to the same 5-speed manual transmission as well.

However, it is very likely that at a later point in time, the company's efficient yet powerful 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine (already found in the EcoSport) will be added to the engine lineup.
To what we already know, reports add that the new Fiesta will come in three trim levels - Ambiente, Trend and Titanium, like the EcoSport. However, the features and equipment provided will not be in the same level as the EcoSport.
The base Ambiente trim will be quite barren, with several missing features normally expected to come as standard in a sedan of this level. For instance, the base trim will be missing an audio system.

What this could be pointing at is that Ford will try launch the facelifted sedan at a very competitive price. As for those who do not want to compromise on features and equipment, there's the top end Titanium trim.
This would provide owners with alloy wheels, automatic headlamps and wipers, fog lamps, electrically folding mirrors, keyless entry and go, rear parking sensors, ambient cabin lighting, an advanced digital trip computer with real-time fuel economy, distance-to-empty meter and the latest version of Ford Sync with ‘Emergency Assist' safety feature.
Interestingly, even though the Ambiente trim only offers basic comfort and convenience amenities, it will not compromise on safety. All three variants of the new Fiesta sedan will come with ABS with EBD and airbags as standard. Driver side only in case of the base variant.
However, there's no mention of the optional six-side airbag provided with the EcoSport. Nevertheless, a base variant with ABS with EBD is a welcome relief.
