Ford Fiesta 2014 Facelift Launch Soon
Ford had revealed a facelifted version of their Fiesta in 2014 at the Delhi Auto Expo. The new Fiesta is expected soon and will receive a host of updates, since its launch back in 2011.
The Fiesta is a well-built vehicle with several features and a unique design, but it did not impress people owing to the hefty price tag it came with. The 2014 updated sedan will recieve styling as well as interior updates. They also plan to make their 2014 model a bit more affordable than the previous generation.
The 2014 Fiesta will be powered by a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine that will generate 108 horsepower along with 140 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine will be mated to 6-speed auto dual-clutch gearbox along with a 5-speed manual.
Ford will also offer a diesel engine for their 2014 Fiesta, a 1.5-litre TDCi engine. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and won't have an automatic option in diesel. Power figures stand at 204 Nm of peak torque and 89 horsepower.
The 2014 Fiesta will be packed with safety features and tech goodies. We expect it to sport ABS, EBD as well as dual airbags for the front seat occupants. It could also feature Ford's SYNC technology, emergency assist, engine start/stop via button and their App Link. These are the few features that would be made available by the American based company.
Ford also sell their urban SUV in India, the EcoSport which has loads of parts and components made in India, bringing costs down. We have been told that the new Fiesta would share a substantial amount of parts with the EcoSport. This could help the American company make their cars more reasonable than earlier.
To make their 2014 Fiesta more desirable and competitive, Ford needs to price the Fiesta in the sub-seven-lakh price range. It will have to face competition from segment leader Honda City, which has been accepted well by the customers. It will also have to compete with Suzuki's soon-to-arrive Ciaz. The international vehicle comes with an EcoBoost engine - Ford will do well to offer the engine option in India. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost mill is an excellent engine which is currently available only in the EcoSport.
