Ford EcoSport Bookings Resume In India
Ford launched their highly anticipated compact SUV the EcoSport in India in 2013. They received a tremendous amount of bookings but the problem was they ran short on supply and had to extend the waiting period for customers.
The EcoSport witnessed success owing to its bang for buck proposition. It literally pulled customers away from premium hatchbacks as Ford offered more features and tech in their compact SUV at an affordable price.
Ford also maintained most of the design elements it showcased with the concept vehicle. Even the global product looks and feels identical as the one available in India. As a matter of fact, Ford India exports the EcoSport to international markets.
Excessive booking and exports led to the backlog and Ford could not deliver the cars on time. They had to increase the waiting period to almost a month and had recently announced that they will not accept booking till further notice.
Ford India now has confirmed to us that they are ready to accept new bookings of their EcoSport vehicle. In order to keep up with the current rate of bookings, it seems that the American manufacturer has increased the capacity at its Chennai facility. We still expect the compact SUV to have a waiting period albeit a shorter one.
Vinay Piparsania, Executive Director of Marketing Sales and Service at Ford India tells us,"Ford India's game changing SUV EcoSport is aimed squarely at delighting discerning customers in India by offering more than they expect. With 50,000 EcoSports delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extend the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers."
If you were planning to buy a new EcoSport this is the best time to book your vehicle. Ford however, will try and avoid this predicament, as it knows that it will face competition soon from Toyota's Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura. But Ford needs to keep in mind that they could lose out on customers if an issue like this repeats.
