Ferrari To Leave Formula One?
Ferrari seems to have had just about enough of keeping to the lean and green restrictions of today's FIA. Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo has spoken out, saying the company is thinking about leaving Formula One, and opting for sports car racing instead.
"Formula One isn't working," he said. "It's declining because [the Federation International d'Automobile, the sport's governing body] have forgotten that people watch the racing for the excitement. Nobody watches racing for the efficiency, come on."

While the FIA remained quiet when asked to comment, Montezemolo did stress that no decision has been taken yet. Also, a statement posted on the Ferrari racing team's website said "there is a unique attraction to the 24 Hour (of Le Mans) race." The statement also said "there's nothing to stop Ferrari" from taking part in both disciplines, Formula One and Le Mans.

Ferrari's long standing disputes with the FIA are well known; it is now strongly against the sport becoming greener and more affordable for participants with its restrictions in place against number of engines, tyres, and other technical resources.
With a large chunk of racing fans making their disapproval of these restrictions clear, and now Ferrari threatening to quit as well, will Formula One be able to survive if indeed, Ferrari does leave? While the statement issued did say nothing to stop Ferrari from taking part at Le Mans and Formula One, it should be noted that Montezemolo did say, "Of course," Montezemolo said, "we cannot do sports-car racing and Formula One. It's not possible."
