Ferrari LaFerrari Replicas Being Built In China
China is known for copycat cars. Local companies selling car models sporting the looks of western models, with only minor changes and a new badge is a common thing here.
It should then not come as a surprise when you see these almost identical models of million dollar Italian exotics like the Ferrari LaFerrari and Pagani Zonda.

Unlike regular copycat cars, which look similar, but are sold as different cars, these are replicas. Exact or near exact copies of expensive cars built mostly from fiber glass in place of the original's carbon fiber body.
As far as engines are concerned, it is as straight forward as sourcing one from a Toyota or Honda sedan.
While they might lack the performance of the real cars, they still look almost exactly the same. And a buyer really would not mind the lack of performance when he only needs to spend $20,000 (about 11 lakhs) instead of $1 million for a car that looks like the real thing.

It goes without saying that businesses like these are illegal and companies like Ferrari do not see them as replicas, but as infringement of their property rights.
A similar racket was busted last year in Spain, where a company was producing replicas of various Ferrari models.
