Ferrari To Fine Journalists That Do Not Abide By LaFerrari Embargo
An embargo is an agreement between content providers like us (Drivespark) and automobile manufacturers. We have to sign these embargoes as and when we attend launches for cars and bikes.
These embargoes are an excellent way of providing each publication, small or big, with a level playing field. Sometimes manufacturers invite online media on a particular day, and print media on a different day. This could provide one media house with an advantage. Thus embargoes are designed to allow an equal opportunity.

You may be thinking why we are talking about embargoes today. We have heard Ferrari has organised a drive of their La Ferrari hypercar. The journalists invited for the drive are allowed to publish their stories not before 30th April, 2014.
Those who are getting their stories from freelancers or other publications are not allowed to publish their articles before 12th May, 2014. However, Ferrari has further pushed that date behind to 26th of May, 2014.
The Italian manufacturer has also decided it will fine journalists 50,000 Euro or 69,000 USD, who break the embargo or do not follow the rules.

Ferrari is not the only manufacturer that has embargoes however, they seem to be going trifle overboard.
