Evoque To Feature Head Up Display
The Range Rover Evoque will feature the world's first laser holographic Heads Up Display (HUD). The advanced integrated HUD will use laser holographic techniques to display useful information directly onto the Evoque's windscreen.
The laser HUD offers very advanced colour saturation, brightness and contrast compared to other competing systems, and all this in a very smart package. The HUD system is fully configurable and also customisable.
The HUD system will display information such as speed, gear position, turn by turn navigation, traffic sign recognition, the set cruise control speed and the Automatic Cruise Control (ACC) status, including warning messages if any.
Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover Programmes says that Jaguar Land Rover's new HUD system is an innovative driver information tool which really pushes the boundaries of advanced laser projection technology.
The HUD system is borrowed from military technology, which, until now, has not been used in the automobile industry. Murray says that Land Rover is very committed to preventing the risk of accidents by reducing driver distraction.
By providing key driver information in this way and removing the need for the driver to look away from the road ahead and distracting himself and other passengers, HUD plays an important role on the journey to delivering Land Rover's vision of the intelligent car of the future.
