Lotus Elise S Cup R; Entry Level Track Car
Lotus Elise S Cup R will be unveiled in Birmingham at the autosport show this week. The Elise is a track-only, following in the shadow of its hardcore sibling the Exige V6 Cup R and the Exige V6 Cup.
The supercharged Elise S mid 1.8 litre engine, is going be used for the first time in a Cup format. The car has a motorsport specific engine control module and an aero pack comprising a front splitter,floor extensions, winglets, rear diffuser and rear wing which enhance performance.
Lotus has managed to keep the car's weight to just 924 kg, even after race add-ons and a body kit. The modifications and manipulation of air-flow create more downforce. Adjustable springs and dampers shave up to four seconds on a 5 km lap over the standard Elise S.
Lotus Motorsport head, Rupert Manwaring explains, "With so many new markets becoming interested in motorsport, the Elise S Cup R gives us the perfect entry level track-car. Whether the focus is racing or simply developing your driving skills on a race circuit and having fun, the incredible handling and ease of use with low running costs make the Elise S Cup R an intelligent choice".
The Elise S Cup R will come with a price tag of 39,125 pounds plus vat in UK.
