BMW Manufacture Their 40,000th Vehicle In India Locally

BMW has been present in India for a long while, however, they have recently commenced local manufacture. The German manufacturer offers a wide range of products in India. They will be launching two new M vehicles in India on 26th November, 2014.

The German automobile giant now has confirmed its 40,000th vehicle rollout from their Chennai facility in India. The milestone vehicle manufactured is a 5 Series, which received a white paint scheme.

To mark the occasion at their Chennai facility Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India and Robert Frittrang, Managing Director, BMW Plant Chennai were present. The German manufacturer has come a long way since it launched its 25,000th vehicle back in July, 2012.

BMW offers its 5 Series in India only in a single fuel option, however, they offer two diesel mills. It is available only with an automatic transmission, no manual transmission is on offer. They offer a 1995 cc diesel engine along with a 2993 cc diesel mill.

Currently BMW India manufacturers its 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3, X5, 3 Series Gran Turismo and the Mini Countryman at their Chennai facility. The local assembly of their vehicles has brought down the price considerably.

The German manufacturer has lined up several launches for this calendar year. It will begin with the launch of a new MINI on 19th November, 2014. They will follow it with the launch of BMW M3 and M4 on 26th November, 2014.

BMW also plans to launch their i8 hybrid sports car in limited number in India. They will be getting more refreshed models in the following year to further strengthen their presence in the Indian market.
