BMW i3 Bags World Car Design And World Green Car Of The Year Title
German automobile giant BMW launched their i3 electric car in 2013. Since then it is created a lot of hype among customers, concerned with conserving the environment for the upcoming generation.
The Bavarian manufacturer's electric car has bagged two awards so far. The first is World Car Design of the Year and the second is World Green Car of the Year title. It's the first award received for the 'i' range of cars by BMW.

Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Sales and Marketing BMW explained,"Right from the development stage, the BMW i3 is a thoroughly sustainable vehicle designed for the requirements of the 21st century."
He further added,"Our designers created a car that, through its design and use of sustainable materials, is an expression of the future."

The i3 defeated approximately 28 other models that competed for the World Car Design of the Year title. The vehicles were judged by a jury of 69 experts and specialists.
The jury explained that among the competitors, BMW's i3 looks both roomy as well as efficient. The design is radical and appealing, the designers were able to create a sort of sub-brand with the fully electric vehicles.

The i3 also won World Green Car of the Year title. BMW paid keen attention to the car from the ground up since their car had to be more efficient than others - they have achieved this.
BMW had showcased their i8 concept at the 2014 Auto Expo held in Greater Noida, Delhi. However, since the i3 is smaller and ready for production, we would like to see the small electric car reach India quickly. But BMW wants to wait as the current taxes on electric cars are too high. This would dramatically increase the cost of the vehicle, taking it out of reach for most.
