The German luxury car maker has recorded 10,002 sold units in 2013, a 11% bump up in sales. Audi is the first luxury car manufacturer to reach the goal of 10,000 cars sold in a calendar year. It had sold a decent 9003 units in 2012.

December 2013 marked Audi India's highest ever booking of 1,340 units, however the German company has announced a price hike of 3 to 5% across its range effective of, January 1, 2014.

"2013 was a stellar year for Audi in India in terms of growth, expansion and performance. In 2013, we ventured into new grounds with our unique customer connect initiatives - Q drive, R drive and Multicity drives, reaching Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities", said Joe King, Audi India, Head.

Although due to low supply, around 450 cars will be delayed and delivered in January. However, the company ensures, customers will receive their cars in January with December 2013 price tag.

Owing to clientele of luxury car buyers, the segment is unaffected by economic slowdowns, says automobile analysts. Other luxury car makers are reporting growth too, as options in the 20 lakh price bracket have increased. However new products should keep coming, with lucrative pricing.
