Audi RS 7 comes with a 4.0 liter TFSI Twin Turbocharged V8 engine that's capable of generating 560 HP at 6,700 rpm and 700 Nm of torque between 1,750 rpm and 5,500 rpm. The R8 is much smaller of course, and lighter. But the RS 7 is no slouch either. The large Sportback is capable of shooting to a 100 km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h. If you think you'll get the opportunity and are brave enough, you can have it increased to 305 km/h.

Partially responsible for RS 7's incredible performance is the 8 speed automatic transmission, delivering power to all four wheels through Audi's Quattro system. In the RS 7 Sportback, 60 percent of the engine's power is transferred to rear wheels, while the rest goes to the front.

Sporty performance in a heavy car (approx 2000 kg, with driver) does not generally bode well when it comes to fuel economy. Audi has tackled this problem with Cylinder On Demand (COD) technology. This works by shutting off 4 of the total 8 engine cylinders during light loads. This enables the RS 7 to achieve a decent combined mileage of 10.2 km/l. That's 7.19 km/l in the city and 13.33 km/l on the highway.

"We started the year with the historic achievement of becoming the first-ever luxury car manufacturer to achieve sales of 10,000 units in a year, and now we follow it up with another momentous step - introduction of the most powerful Audi model from our product range - Audi RS 7 Sportback in India. Embodying our philosophy of "Vorsprung durch Technik", the Audi RS 7 Sportback is Audi's superlative illustration of sportiness, progressiveness and sophistication- combining the strengths of a large, five-door coupé and a sportscar. After the overwhelming response to our Audi RS 5 which further boosted our leadership in the luxury sportscar segment in India, we are confident that the Audi RS 7 Sportback with its aesthetic design and impressive sportiness would establish new benchmarks in the performance sportscar segment in India." said Mr. Joe King, Head, Audi India.
