Automotive Research Association Of India Opens For Public Once A Month
ARAI or the Automotive Research Association of India, as most of us know it, is the place where automobile fuel economy figures are officially certified.
But there's a lot more to this premier automotive government agency than mileage testing. The agency also carries out safety assessment, R&D, testing, certification, training, homologation and other automotive services.
ARAI has now announced that once every month it will open its doors to the public, starting from May 24th. Going ahead, public visits will be held on the third Saturday of each month.
Two sessions will be held on these days - one at 10 AM till noon and the second from 3 PM till 5 PM. During each session 100 visitors will be admitted. Those wishing to visit will have to register on ARAI website before.
The decision to start public visits has been taken to increase awareness about the institution, about the important research and safety related work it carries out and to promote the agency as one of the major automotive research bodies in Asia.
Naturally, entry will be restricted to certain areas where testing on confidential manufacturer products take place, but visitors will still be able to see how emission testing, engine testing, safety, noise vibration harshness (NVH), materials testing among others are carried out.
