2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class India Launch Price Of Rs 1.57 Crore
Mercedes-Benz has launched its most luxurious and technologically advanced model, the 2014 S-Class in India. Unveiled at an event today held in Delhi, the car comes for a starting price of INR 1.57 crores (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 2014 Mercedes-benz S-Class was revealed globally early in 2013, followed by a launch in October. The new S-Class comes to India some three months after its global debut, but the automaker has already sold inaugural units meant for India.

The only variant of the S-Class that's currently available in India is the long wheelbase S 500 petrol. The S 500 will be imported from Mercedes' manufacturing plant in Sindelfingen, Germany as a completely built unit.

The first 125 of the India bound S 500, the limited edition units, have already been sold. The order books are open, but new deliveries will only begin from April 2014.

The Mercedes-Benz S 500 is run by a 4.5 liter twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine that delivers 453 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque.

Significantly, the Indian version of the S 500 does not get the Mercedes 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. Hence, a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission drives only the rear wheels.

The S 500 has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h and is said to be capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in about 5 seconds.

A locally assembled diesel variant, the S 350 CDI will be launched in India for a significantly lower price. But this will come to India only during the later half of 2014.

The S-Class offers an extensive set of standard features and technology, both for safety and comfort. The 24 speaker Burmester 3D audio system, reclining heated and cooled seats with hot stone massage functions, charging stations, Bluetooth and WiFi hotspot, full LED headlamps, air suspension system, night vision assist, active ride control, cruise control, panoramic sunroof and four zone climate control system to name a few.

Last, but not the least, Mercedes will offer complimentary "Chauffeur training" to chauffeurs of S-Class owners to familiarise them with the various features of the car and to train them in soft skills to give a complete luxury experience to the customer.
Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO, Mercedes-benz India said, "The S-Class has always set standards that have retained its accolade as "the best automobile in the world" with each generation. It truly embodies our DNA and aspirations of "the best or nothing" in every respect. No other car stands for the mercedes-Benz brand promise more than the S-Class."
