Volkswagen Polo 1.6 GT TDI Launched; Price Stands At INR 8.08 Lakhs
Volkswagen has caught everyone by surprise with the soft launch of the Polo 1.6 GT TDI. While the launch was rumored, we were skeptical about it. But here it is. The new Polo is now the most power diesel hatchback in India. Essentially the same as Highline variant, the GT TDI trim gets the 1.6 liter TDI engine from VW Vento.
Priced at INR 8.08 lakhs, Polo 1.6 GT TDI is now at the top of the variant lineup. Commenting on the launch of the new car VW Passenger Cars, VW Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd, Managing Director, Mr. Arvind Saxena, said: "We are committed to bringing in the latest and the most efficient vehicle technologies to the Indian market. The New Polo GT TDI has been created to cater to the requirements of discerning customers, who want the best possible mix of strong power delivery, outstanding driving dynamics and class-leading fuel efficiency."
Engine
Powering the new Polo is the 1.6 liter 4 cylinder turbo diesel unit. The engine is rated at 105 PS power and 250 Nm torque. The engine is mated to the 5 speed manual gearbox.
Mileage
The 1.6 L diesel engine delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 19.7 kmpl. Surprisingly, this is less than what the same engine delivers in the heavier Vento sedan (20.54 kmpl).
Exterior
From the outside the car remains the same as the other variants. A GT badge on the front grille and TDI badge on the rear are all that differentiates this model from the rest. The 15 inch Estrada alloy wheels wrapped in 185/60 R15 tyres are once again come from the Highline variant. The car also gets smoked headlamps.
Interior
You are welcomed with GT badged door sill plates, 'Milan' Titanschwarz fabric upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel, gear shift knob and handbrake lever. The sporty characteristics is highlighted by chrome interior trims and aluminium pedals.
Features
Standard on the Polo 1.6 GT TDI are two DIN audio system with 4 speakers, Bluetooth, and USB, automatic climate control, steering mounted buttons and height adjustable driver seat.
Safety
Twin airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensor and lane change indicator.
Polo 1.6 GT TDI will be available in three colours - Flash Red, Deep Black and Candy White.
