Volkswagen CrossPolo Crossover Launch Expected Soon
Renault and Ford could soon have a potent competitor in the form of a crossover from VW. The CrossPolo, a rugged version of the Polo, could be revealed as soon as Wednesday, 21st August and launched in a few weeks time, AutocarIndia reports.
VW CrossPolo has been spotted testing in India more than a few times, which has revealed how it differs from the Polo hatchback. To start with, the CrossPolo has a higher ground clearance and could come with larger alloy wheels.

The lower part of the body comes with hard plastic cladding throughout the length of the car. Additional protective features will be a silver skid plates at the rear and at the front.
The vehicle will also sport roof rails, not for vanity, but functional ones that will be have the capacity to support up to 75 kg of luggage, says Autocar, citing sources.

As for the engine, VW would definitely keep the 1.2 liter diesel engine from the Polo TDI Highline, the top end Polo diesel variant. Interior features are likely to match the TDI Highline as well. But we would not be surprised if it comes with a few added safety features.
Furthermore, a higher variant, equipped with the new 1.5 liter diesel engine and with rear mounted spare wheel will also reportedly come out in 2014. Expect VW CrossPolo to cost nearly INR 1 lakh more than the Polo TDI Highline, which should still place it below the top spec EcoSport.
