Volkswagen's First All Electric E-Up! Hatch Debuts
While India got its first modern, next generation electric car in the form of Mahindra Reva e2o, over in Europe, VW showcased its first ever fully electric hatchback, E-Up! The vehicle was showcased at the Annual Press and Investors Conference in Wolfsburg.
VW E-Up! is being projected as an ideal city car, which can also be used as a second car. The E-Up!'s four door design means it has ample space to be used as a commuter vehicle. Below is the gallery, along with further details about E-Up!

The lithium ion battery powering the E-Up is of 18.7 Kilowatt-hours (kWh) capacity, which is placed in the underfloor area.

The battery generates a peak power of 60 kW / 82 PS, while constant power generated is 40 kW / 55 PS. Peak torque of 210 Nm is available right from the start, which is a feature unique to any electric motor.

The E-Up! can achieve a top speed of 135 km/h and go from 0 to 100 km/h within 14 seconds.

As per NEDC the car can travel a distance of 150 km on a single charge which is in part due to it low weight of 1,185 kg.

E-Up!'s battery comes with quick chargefeature, which means 80 percent of the battery can be charged in 30 minutes.

E-Up! uses the Combined Charging System (CCS) and more importantly it can be charged using either DC or AC power sources.

VW E-Up! will make its global debut at this year's International Auto Show in Frankfurt.
