Vauxhall VXR8 GTS Launched To Take On BMW M5

GM's Holden GEN-F GTS, Australia's fastest production car has been rebadged for the UK market to take on the likes of BMW M5 and Audi RS4. Now wearing the Vauxhall VXR8 nameplate, this super sedan is ready to deliver a huge bang for the buck.

Though it shares the same platform as the GEN-F GTS, the VXR8 GTS is ever so slightly less powerful at 576 HP and 545 lb-ft, but it is an incredible 150 HP and 140 lb-ft more powerful than the outgoing Vauxhall VXR8 GTS.

Powering the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS is the same supercharged 6.2 liter LSA V8 unit that is found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the 2013 Cadillac CTS-V. Power is transferred to the rear wheels either via a six speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox.

Visual changes over the outgoing model come in the form of a facelift, new interior, 20 inch alloys, LED taillamps, rear wing etc. Though performance figures are not out yet, expect the new VXR8 GTS to be quite a bit quicker than the outgoing model which managed 0-100 km/h in 5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

At £54,999 in the UK, the new Vauxhall VXR GTS rivals BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Audi RS4 in performance, but for a significantly lower price tag.
