Toyota Is Again The Word's Best

Toyota has achieved a 23 per cent increase in sales in 2012 when compared with 2011. Although the growth rate appears impressive, it has been possible only due to the low sales achieved in 2011.
While Toyota now occupies the top spot among the best selling car brands in the world, it is followed by General Motors which has sold 9.3 million vehicles followed by Volkswagen which sold 9.1 million vehicles in 2012.
Toyota had always wanted to be considered as the world's largest carmaker. Some say this ambition lead to several decisions that gave importance to volumes over quality resulting in embarrassing recalls of millions of cars.
General Motors was the world's largest carmaker for 70 years. And some say its huge size lead to its financial troubles and bankruptcy in 2008. Volkswagen is another brand that wants to see itself as the world's largest car brand. It has set itself the target of reaching this position by 2018 but this will be possible only if it overtakes Toyota along with GM.
Toyota is now aiming to sell 10 million cars in 2013. We should only hope that the Japanese carmaker does not compromise on quality in its attempt to gain volumes.
