Toyota Etios Cross Edition Unveiled In Brazil
Toyota Etios, the hatchback and not the sedan, has been given a makeover in Brazil. The same sort which many hatchbacks seem to be getting around the world. We are talking about the Crossover craze of course.
In India it was recently the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the earlier Skoda Fabia Scout. And in the West there are the VW Crossfox, Fiat Idea Adventure and the lot. Toyota has now got into that game with the Etios Cross Edition. A slightly rugged and raised version of a regular Etios hatchback.

Etios Cross gains a new bumper with aggressive looking trapezoidal shaped silver inserts. Towards the sides are black plastic cladding and over the wheel arches.

The new bumpers and side sills aside, the Etios Cross also gains roof bars which will make it possible to carry luggage weighing up to 50 kilos.

On the inside, Toyota Etios has been given new seat fabrics and trim accents.

Mechanically, the Toyota Etios Cross edition gets increased ride height. The engine on the other hand remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the same 1.5 liter 96 HP engine.

If you were expecting all wheel drive you would be disappointed as the engine comes mated to a five speed transmission delivering power to the front wheels, like in the regular Etios.

Toyota Etios Cross will be available in Brazil from November 18 and is priced locally at BR45,690, equivalent to INR 12.47 lakhs. Features provided will be the same as the top of the line Etios XLS variant.
