Toyota Camry Reaches 10 Million Mark In The U.S

Toyota is the world's largest automobile manufacturer for a good reason. It is the company that sells some of the most popular, best selling models in history. Be it the Corolla or the Camry. Lets talk about the Toyota Camry here because it is in its 30th production year and in that span of time it has managed to reach a truly impressive figure of 10 million units sold.

"We couldn't be more excited about Camry's 10 millionth sale in the U.S.," said Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. "With the support of so many loyal customers, Camry has truly become part of the country's fiber. For seven generations, Toyota dealers have also been instrumental in getting Americans behind the wheel of a Camry. Camry is definitely helping Toyota Go Places," says Toyota.

1983 Camry

The Camry has remained the highest selling car in the U.S for the past 11 years, without a gap.

1984 Camry

Of all the cars sold by Toyota in the U.S till date, 20 percent bear the Camry nameplate.

1985 Camry

Toyota introduced Camry in the U.S in 1983.

1986 Camry

Out of the 52,651 vehicles sold in 1983, 773 are still in operation.

1987 Camry

According to Toyota, about 6.4 million Camry cars are on American roads at present.

1988 Camry

Toyota calls the Camry the "most American made car", since 75 percent of its components are sourced from within the country, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stats.
