Toyota Camatte57s Concept Debuts At Tokyo Toy Show
Last year Toyota made an unconventional concept car launch, not in an auto show, but at the Tokyo Toy Show. The car, Camatte concept, was meant as a recreational family car, that could be customized and styled through detachable body panels. Toyota has followed up the Camatte with a new roadster design concept at this year's toy show.
Toyota Camatte57s Concept car is just as customizable as its predecessor. The body is made from 57 detachable lightweight panels. These panels come in a variety of colours. Meaning, a family can have a fun time together just configuring the car.
"Toyota's new concept is about sharing ideas to build the ideal car, inspired by the fun generations of mums, dads and kids have had making things together. It believes involving youngsters in choosing the shape and look of a car will help these drivers of the future learn more about the fun aspects of motoring," says the automaker.
The Camatte57s is meant to be kid friendly. In fact, Toyota says it is a perfect car for children to hone their driving skills from an early age. Not on public roads of course. The three seater design allows a parent sitting in the right rear seat to control the steering and brakes.
The concept car is powered by an electric motor and measures 3,00mm long by 1,440mm wide and 1,000mm high. As fun as it might sound, the Camatte57s, like its predecessor, is unlikely to go into production. A shame that is. Video and images are in the gallery below.
