Tata Xenon Tuff Truck Concept Unveiled In Australia
Tata Xenon pickup truck is scheduled to be launched in Australia in October, but before that is done the company needed to ensure people Down Under took to Tata Motors' trucks. It was important to create an aura of toughness around the Xenon truck.
With the National 4×4 & Outdoors Show and Fishing & Boating Expo going on in Melbourne this weekend Tata Motors found the right venue to showcase a concept based on the Xenon, the Tuff Truck Concept. Look at it once and you know Tata has done it right.
The Xenon Tuff Truck was created in association with Fusion Automotive, Tata Motors' local distributors. The design team was headed by Walkinshaw Automotive Chief Designer Julian Quincey, who, if you did not know, also happens to be the lead designer at Holden Special Vehicles, the performance vehicle division of Holden. Now we know the reason behind the concept's raw beauty.
The Xenon was fitted with exclusively designed body kit and accessories pack, which includes the wheels, snorkel and sports bar on the roof. LED Xenon driving and spot lights were sourced from Narva. Daytime running lights are included as well.
The wheels measure 20" and were fashioned from solid billets of aluminium and later shod in massive off road tyres. The final ‘tuff' touch was given with the satin Arden exterior paint.
The engine remains the same, perhaps because Tata wants to provide the same driving experience as the stock Xenon to potential buyers. The 2.2 liter DICOR diesel Euro 5 engine delivers 148 HP power and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with ‘shift-on-the-fly' 4×4 system.
