Tata's Dharwad Plant Gets State Level Safety Award

Dharwad, March 13, 2013: Tata Motors' Dharwad Plant bagged the ‘State Level Safety Award' at the 42nd National Safety Day Celebration event, for its sustainable safety culture. The Safety Award is instituted by the Department of Factories, Boilers, Industrial Safety & Health, Government of Karnataka to encourage and recognise safety culture in the large-scale industry, in Karnataka.
Mr. Asit Ojha, (Head - Technical Services, Tata Motors Dharwad), Mr. Ravi Kulkarni, (Head - HR, Tata Motors Dharwad) and senior staff members received the award on behalf of the plant from Mr. N.C. Muniyappa, IAS, Principal secretary to Government - Labour Department, Government of Karnataka. Renowned actor-director and green activist Mr. Suresh Heblikar, Environmentalist, Mr. Yellappa Reddy, and dignitaries from Government of Karnataka and industry representatives were present during the occasion.
This recognition has been bestowed on Tata Motors Dharwad in its very first year of operations. The facility has developed and maintained a safety culture in a short span, through continuous safety training programmes. At Tata Motors Dharwad, every employee undergoes mandatory safety training including plant and role specific activities. The company ensures utmost compliance with usage of safety equipment and devices, automated work environment to provide maximum safety to the employees and visitors, ensuring that world class safety standards are met.
