Tata Nano Online Purchase? Why Not?
We have seen Tata Motors apply many different sales tactics to give Nano sales a boost. A few conventional measures were discounts, interesting EMI and payment options, special edition models etc,. The company recently even offered a unique exchange offer - a motorcycle for a Nano. But the most unconventional idea the marketing team at Tata Motors has come up with has to be this. Online sale of Nano cars.
While cars are available for renting or for hiring online never has a been offered for purchase on the internet. While it is common for us to purchase electronic consumer goods and garments online the idea of buying a car online is altogether new, but the company believes it will work.
"We have some interesting instances where parents have bought the Nano for their sons/daughters. This is a very interesting trend," said Ranjit Yadav, president (passenger vehicle business unit), Tata Motors.

The Nano may have been developed as the world's cheapest car, but more than the target customer it is the urban youth that is more suited for the Nano and the company has sensed an opportunity here.
The idea is to let a buyers make an advanced payment for the Nano online. Perhaps, even allow buyers to configure their Nano, much like high end cars. The car will then be delivered to the buyer's door steps or to the nearest Tata Motors dealership.
The idea of home delivery certainly sounds like a good idea and could in fact work out quite well for Tata Motors across cities. The company has tried almost every trick in the book to get the Nano out from the factory and on to the roads but has failed to do so up to its expectations. But maybe. Just maybe, introduction of an easy purchase option will bring positive change.
