Tata Motors To Invest In UK For R&D Facility
India's largest automobile company, Tata Motors Limited, has pledged to long term investments in advanced research and development in the U.K through it's subservient, Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) in the National Automotive Innovation Campus (NAIC).
The NAIC project will be joined by TMETC and their allies, Jaguar Land Rover and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). This venture will help build the R&D facility at the University of Warwick and will be considered the National Emblem of Automotive R&D partnership, innovation and excellence in the U.K.
Tata Motors will fund NAIC around 30 Million Pounds along with its partners, and U.K's Higher Education Funding Council England (HEFCE). The facility would be a hub for people, research and world-leading infrastructure. The technologies at the R&D center will help stimulate the automotive industry, for larger economic benefits and sustained growth. The goal is to create ingenious ways to reduce dependency on fossil fuels, thus reduce CO2 pollution.
September, 2014 will commence the construction of the NAIC facility and when complete, would constitute a major UK automotive R&D asset, plus a long standing relation with TMETC, WMG, Jaguar Land Rover. The building will comprise state of the art engineering workshops, powertrain and vehicle engineering laboratories. Apart from these platforms, the center will focus on latest advanced design, visualization and rapid prototyping technologies. The goal is to help New Vehicle Concept Development phase of Tata Motors lifecycle model.
TMETC is set to expand its personnel to almost 350 people covering most areas of automotive design and R&D. The investment adds to TMETC's eight year union with the Warwick University. TMETC is considered an employer for automotive talent in UK and the NAIC is committed to developing young Engineers and apprentices through its training and recruitment plan, which is closely associated to the WMG academy for upcoming Engineers.
