Tata Motors Providing Discounts On Aria
Considering the present troubled state of the automobile industry in India, the increased excise duty on SUVs and the general low popularity of the Tata Aria model, it was only a matter of time before the automaker was forced to provide its large SUV at discounted price.
The company has now decided to provide a discount of INR 2.0 lakhs on all Aria variants, except the base Pure LX trim, belonging to the 2012 batch. Also, Aria SUVs belonging to the 2011 batch will be sold for INR 2.5 lakhs less. In addition to the discounts, a further Rs. 50,000 will be cut from the sale price for exchange of any old car.

Tata Aria, introduced in 2011, was expected to take the Multi Purpose Vehicle segment by storm. But Tata was in for a bitter disappointment when sales did not take off as expected. This is clearly indicated when compared to its chief rival, Mahindra XUV500. Against Mahindra XUV500's 38,000 unit sales between April 2012 and January 2013, Tata only sold 821 Arias.
Tata Aria is powered by a 2.2 liter turbocharged DiCOR diesel engine, which delivers 140 BHP at 4000 rpm and 320 peak torque at 17000 RPM. A more powerful Aria was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be introduced later this year.
