Suzuki Swift 4X4 Announced For The UK
Suzuki has a good history of selling all-wheel drive models across the world. In India though, the only 4X4 model offered by its subsidiary Maruti is the Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV, which does not happen to be a very popular model despite being a capable vehicle.
In Japan and European countries Suzuki has a wider range of all wheel drive vehicles and even offers the highly popular Swift hatchback in 4X4 form. U.K was an exception, but not anymore. The Swift 4X4 has now been announced for the island country and will be offered with some off-road add-ons as standard.

Suzuki Swift 4X4 comes with a fully automatic, permanent 4WD system, controlled by a manual transmission.

For increased torque delivery to the rear wheels, the 4WD system uses viscous coupling. Suzuki says, this further enhances the car's famed cornering ability.

Swift 4X4 will be offered in SZ3 and SZ4 variants.

While the 4X4 SZ3 trim looks similar to the front wheel drive trim, the 4X4 SZ4 adds off road enhancements such as front and rear skid plates, black wheel arch extensions and black side skirts. The SZ4 trim also includes power folding door mirrors with integrated indicators and daytime running lights.

Despite the addition of 4WD system the new vehicle gains only 65kg over its front wheel drive counterpart and has CO2 emission figure of 126 g/km, which is only 10g/km higher.

Swift 4X4 will be available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine option.

Suzuki says, the Swift 4X4 will be a suitable alternative to SUVs in rural areas, for those who prefer smaller vehicles.

Suzuki is offering the Swift 4X4 in the U.K for £11,516 for SZ3 and £13,116 SZ4 variants respectively.
