Suzuki Inazuma GW250 India Launch In January 2014
Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited was rumored to launch its 250cc segment naked street motorcycle, the Inazuma 250 in India earlier this year. But that never happened. Now, official confirmation about the same has come from Atul Gupta, executive vice-president, SMIL himself.
While speaking to Autocar Professional, Atul Gupta commented saying, "we are going to launch the 250cc motorcycle next month (January 2014) and new products to expand our current portfolio in the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. We are equally focussing on the scooters and the motorcycles."
Suzuki Inazuma 250, also known as GW250, will be brought to India through the completely-knocked-down route. The motorcycle will then be assembled locally at Suzuki's Gurgaon plant. The success of Inazuma in India will almost solely depend on the pricing. Especially in the current scenario where Indian buyers have plenty of options to chose from.

Suzuki Inazuma 250 is powered by a 248cc, twin cylinder, liquid cooled, four stroke engine that generates 26 bhp and 24.2 Nm of torque.
As far as the other new products are concerned, Gupta did not reveal any specifics. However, this will definitely be a new scooter model and new commuter segment motorcycles. Suzuki India is no where near its Japanese rival Honda, which is India second largest two wheeler manufacturing company.
According to Gupta, Suzuki is absent from almost 60 percent of the market in India and is trying to fill in the gaps with the expansion of dealer networks and increasing production capacity by 25 percent.
Suzuki currently offers two models in the scooter segment - Access 125 and Swish 125 - and three models in the commuter bike segment - Hayate (110cc), Slingshot (125cc) and GS150R (150cc). That's way less than the number of models on offer by the top players, Hero, Honda and Bajaj.
