Skoda Rapid SpaceBack Revealed

The Rapid Spaceback was long expected from the Czech automaker following several spyshots. The first official images of the estate version of the Rapid sedan is now here, ahead of its September global reval at Frankfurt Auto Show.

Based on the Rapid sedan, the Rapid SpaceBack is a hatchback, with the look of an estate vehicle. However, Skoda refers to it as a compact car in the high-volume compact segment, offering practicality in a hatchback design. But never mind what segment this Skoda sits in, it does look attractive, spacious and practical.

The most appealing feature of all is the extended panoramic tinted glass roof. Complementing it is an optional extended rear window, also in the same shade of tint, which gives the feeling that the entire unit is a single transparent piece.

At 4483mm long, the SpaceBack is actually slightly shorter than the sedan. This also brings down the boot space by a small amount. The boot measures 415 liters and 1,380 liters with the rear seats folded.

A total of 6 engines are on offer - four petrol and two diesel - ranging from 73 HP to 120 HP. The most fuel efficient engine delivers a mileage of 26.31 kmpl.

Anyone familiar with the Skoda Rapid sedan's interior will perfectly comfortable with the cabin in the SpaceBack, which is been left mostly untouched. This includes the three spoke steering wheel.
