Rinspeed MicroMAX Concept Headed To Geneva
MicroMAX, the urban transport concept vehicle developed by Rinspeed, the auto-design/manufacturing house from Switzerland, in association with infotainment specialists Harman, will be introduced to the world at the Geneva Motor Show.
Being a concept for the future, naturally, the MicroMax is an all electric vehicle, which uses an all-electric forklift drive system for mobility. But it is a transport vehicle with a difference. MicroMAX is a "network swarm car". Meaning, if and when it is launched, the vehicle will be a part of a network consisting of many MicroMAXes or other vehicles. Network swarm car
With the MicroMAX, Rinspeed wants to introduce "swarm intelligence" to urban vehicles. All the vehicles in the "swarm" communicate with each other and share information and react accordingly.
Support for this cloud based feature comes from Harman's "urbanSWARM" concept technology.
Once the driver enters the destination, the vehicle's cloud based ‘brain' will decide the quickest route to the destination, travel speed, time and more in real time based on live information from its counterparts.
Design
The first thing that catches one's attention is the open and airy feel about the design. The design incorporates transparent plastic Plexiglas throughout - on the sides and on the roof. This gives occupants a sense of being in an open environment and brings in a lot of natural light. At the same time helps reduce overall weight.
Interior
MicroMAX concept provides seating for four adults, including the driver. However, other than the driver the other three occupants will be ‘seated' in a near standing position. Seat belts in the MicroMAX have been specially designed by vehicle safety major TRW.
Connectivity and convenience
Rinspeed says, MicroMAX will provide occupants with unlimited internet - both for their entertainment needs as well as to for work.
The concept vehicle will also come with a refrigerator and a coffeemaker. And there is space enough for an unfolded shopping cart.
MicroMAX measures 3.7 meters long and has a height of 2.2 meters.
