Rich Vintage Cars From Across India
Auto shows across India have a special section for vintage cars and vintage bikes. We have come across several vintage cars during our visits to automobile events. Some of these vintage cars have been cared for and maintained in pristine condition.
Some of the Vintage cars were so rare that we literally had to browse through several pages in the internet just to find out some of the names of these cars. India is home to several vintage cars which were first brought in by British rulers. The first Indian car enthusiasts came from Indian royal families who had a taste for customized Rolls-Royces and other premium cars of the early 1900s.
But here are images of some vintage cars that belonged to the common man. Some of these cars could well be found in the area you live. All you need to find them is a keen eye.

1927 Ford Grain Truck
The Ford Grain Truck was a utility vehicle primarily built for farm use. This 86 year old vintage car is powered by a 2.9-litre four cylinder engine mated with a four speed manual gearbox. It is a rear wheel drive car with a 28-litre fuel tank.

1935 Ford V8
The 1935 Ford V8 can be credited with helping Ford overtake the then leading American car brand Chevrolet. The Ford V8 was a modern car with several new features. It was one of the first mass produced car to get a radio as an optional accessory.

1937 Adler
Adler was a German car brand that operated between 1900 and 1957. This 1937 model was considered as a premium saloon. It is powered by a three-litre six cylinder engine. Buyers could opt for either a four seater or a six seater.

1946 Wolseley 8 Saloon
The Wolseley 8 saloon was first launched in 1946. The car was designed well before the start of World War II but could be built only after the end of the war. It is powered by a 918cc four cylinder engine. It was priced at £416 (approximately Rs.35,000) when it was launched.

1948 Chevrolet Fleet Master
The Chevrolet Fleet Master is powered by a 2.8-litre six cylinder engine. Known for its power and performance, its engine is paired with a 3+1 speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. It has sufficient space for five occupants.

1956 Jaguar Mark VII
The 1956 Jaguar Mark VII is a rare vintage car. It was first unveiled at the London Motor Show. It is powered by a 3.4 litre engine capable of generating 190bhp. The Jaguar Mark VII could reach a top speed of 104mph or 167kmph.

1961 VW Beetle
This is probably the newest car in this photo feature. The Volkswagen Beetle was one of the most visible car in its times. In fact it had held the position of being the highest sold car for several years. This 1961 version retains much of the original design of the first Beetle. It is powered by a rear mounted 1.2 litre engine.

1962 Standard Herald
The Standard Herald is a product from Chennai (Madras) based Indian automobile manufacturer Standard. The Herald was first launched with a host of British parts. Slowly the Indian company started building its parts reducing its dependence on British parts. The Standard Herald presented here is a soft top convertible.
