Renault India Gets Duster Boost In December

Renault India has reported that it sold 5,924 vehicles in December 2012 as against the 1,401 cars it sold in the same month last year. This is a massive 422% increase and the one single reason is the Duster. To understand the influence that the Duster has had on Renault sales, just have a look at the model wise breakup of December sales. The Duster accounted for a whopping 4,485 units out of the 5,924 units sold. Renault India sold 820 units of the Scala and 515 units of the Pulse.
Among the premium vehicles, The Fluence sedan garnered 68 sales followed by the Koleos which managed to attract 36 buyers. The Duster's price in India of just over INR 7 lakhs has made the Duster one of the hottest selling new SUVs in India.
Renault India has reported its annual sales figures for 2012. The French carmaker has sold 35,052 vehicles in the previous year. Renault marked its expansion plans in India in 2012 by launching three new cars that would attract volumes. It had started the year by launching the Pulse hatchback and unveiling the Duster at the Delhi Auto Expo.
Marc Nassif, the managing director of Renault India said: "It is very satisfying for all of us at Renault to close the year with sales of over 35,000 units and delivering what we promised in the beginning of the year to our prospective customers. A full range of cars with five models, a pan India network which will be close to 100 strong soon reflecting our commitment to the Indian market and as promised we reached our target of multiplying our sales 20 times over that of last year when we launched in June, 2011."
