Red Bull Racing Shows How Its F1 Cars Are Made
Formula 1 is the world's most expensive motorsports event. The money involved in the development and manufacturing of these cars, combined with cut throat competition means teams maintain a level of secrecy that rivals national security related secrets maintained by governments.
However, there is no harm in telling fans the basics of how a Formula 1 car is built. Most fans of the motorsports already have a fair idea about the construction and development process of the single seater racers. But most are oblivious to some of the more interesting facts related to same.
For instance, did you know Red Bull makes over 30,000 design changes over the development period of the car, at an average rate of 1,000 changes per week? What's most impressive is that teams have just about 5 months to develop a brand new racer from scratch for the next season. That's 5 months to develop arguably the most advanced car on the planet. Since the 2014 season brings a lot a rule changes, Red Bull, says, development began a little earlier.
You can enlighten yourself with more such interesting facts thanks to a new YouTube video series started by Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 team for its fans. The first video of the series was released earlier this week, with more to follow. You can watch the first episode below.
